Huawei launches the Ascend P6 in India for Rs 29,999

Huawei has now launched the Ascend P6 in India today with a price tag of Rs 29,999. Earlier known as the world’s thinnest phone, the P6 is mere 6.18mm in thickness. The device was last seen when the company showed it off in the international market at an event in June. A quick look at the specifications shows that the handset comes with a 4.7-inch HD in-cell display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The device also comes with a really thin bezel as well as on-screen buttons. In terms of audio, it comes with Dolby Digital Plus sound. Internally, it is powered by a quad-core K3V2+ processor clocked at 1.5GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM. The P6 weighs in at 120 grams and supports 2G and 3G networks. The smartphone comes with 8GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card slot. On the camera front, the P6 comes with an 8-megapixel camera sporting an F/2.0 BSI lens on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter. The handset runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with a layer of Huawei’s customary Emotion UI on top. It supports GSM/UMTS/HSPA+. Connectivity-wise, it comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot as well as Bluetooth 3.0. Rounding up the package is a 2,000mAh battery.

Here’s a quick look at the specs of the Huawei Ascend P6:

  • 4.7-inch display, 1280x720 pixel resolution

  • GSM/UMTS/HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi hotspot,

  • Bluetooth 3.0

  • A-GPS support, GLONASS

  • 8-megapixel F/2.0 BSI rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera

  • 8GB internal memory, expandable via microSD card slot

Overall, the company has definitely focused a great deal on the way the phone looks. The glass and metal look, at least from the press render, definitely looks nice. However, some of the features of the phone are also not the best you can get for the money you are shelling out. In fact, you can see similar features on smartphones in the market that are priced below Rs 15,000. The slim profile aside, there is not much in the P6 that could make it worth the Rs 30,000 odd price tag.
