Facebook revamps Graph Search, now covers posts and status updates

Facebook has revamped its Graph Search so that users can now search across an expanded range of content including posts and status updates.

The upgrade makes it possible for users to now search for status updates, photo captions, check-ins and comments to find things shared with them.

Searching for the topics users are interested in will let them see what their friends are saying. Search terms like “Dancing with the Stars" or "Posts about Dancing with the Stars by my friends” will now bring up relevant results.

The new functionality also makes it possible to search for posts about a city, place or from a certain time, such as "Posts by my friends from last month," or post that have been written from specific locations.

You'll also be able to search for posts you want to see again, like “Posts I commented on” or “My posts from last year." - saving you time scrolling through old updates and photos.

"As with other things in Graph Search, you can only see content that has been shared with you, including posts shared publicly by people you are not friends with. Use privacy shortcuts and Activity Log to review who can see the things you share," Facebook said.

The social media giant added that the search update is rolling out slowly to a small group of people who currently have Graph Search and "we will continue to improve this experience by listening to feedback".

Facebook users can find out more about looking for posts with Graph Search in the Help Centre.
