Eidos Montreal reveals the future vision for Deus Ex

Eidos Montreal has announced through a blog post that the next generation consoles will be getting games set in the Deus Ex universe. Appropriately named the Deus Ex Universe, games in the setting will span consoles, PC as well as mobile. The announcement was made by Eidos Montreal's David Anfossi."It's a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before," Anfossi said. "Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc..."

To start off the Deus Ex Universe, the studio has already started working on a next-gen Deus Ex game. The company has shown off a single piece of concept art that shows a ghetto and dilapidated area that one would generally expect in the overall depressing world of Deus Ex."It represents a 'ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes," says Anfossi. "The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."Eidos Montreal was the studio responsible for the stellar reboot of the Deus Ex franchise with 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The company has announced that the game will be getting a second wind in the form of a Director’s Cut edition, which will be coming out on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. It will have new features, including re-done boss fights as well as second-screen functionality with the Wii U’s controller, the SmartGlass app for Xbox 360 gamers and the PlayStation Vita for PS3 gamers.
