Call of Duty: Ghosts system requirements announced

Nvidia, working with Activision, has revealed the system requirements for the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts. Going by the required hardware, Ghosts seems to be a beast of a game. This is undoubtedly because it is one of the launch titles for next-gen consoles, so it will be making use of much more powerful hardware than early Call of Duty titles.Without further ado, here are the minimum requirements for Call of Duty: Ghosts on the PC:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-Bit / Windows 8 64-Bit

  • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ / AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHZ or better

  • RAM: 6 GB RAM

  • HDD: 50 GB HD space

  • Video: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti / ATI Radeon HD 5870 or better

  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card

  • DirectX: 11

Recommended for the game is the current-gen Nvidia GeForce GTX 780.

Two of the most notable things about these requirements are the massive 50GB of required HDD space and the 6GB of minimum RAM requirement. Both of these probably tie in to some kind of new texturing technology Activision is employing. Nvidia has been quite vocal about bringing 4K gaming to the mainstream, and has gone on to name Call of Duty: Ghosts as among the games that will support it. At such a high resolution, the in-game textures will have to be much higher than they currently are."Of course, to play games at 4K you're going to need a top-end system, one that features SLI GeForce GTX 770s, GTX 780s, or GTX SLI TITANs," Nvidia's Andrew Burnes wrote in September.Call of Duty: Ghosts is hitting stores in November on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
