Smartphone manufacturer BlackBerry may now be planning to roll out its flagship BlackBerry Z30 in Asia next week, according to Pocket-Lint. The launch of the new device next week, which is a 5-inch BB10 smartphone, will reportedly coincide with events that the company is planning to hold in France, Malaysia and India on September 18. The source claims that the Z30 will debut at Malaysia event, though the smartphone will likely make an appearance in the India and France-based events as well. BlackBerry has not confirmed this piece of news, though. The latest smartphone was earlier being called the A10, but it now looks like the company is planning to stick with the new moniker. While the official announcement is yet to take place, a lot of information of the new BlackBerry flagship has been revealed through a series of leaks. Apart from the 5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 768, the smartphone will also come with a 1.7GHz dual-core processor under the hood, along with 2GB of RAM. The flagship will come with the latest BBOS 10.2.0.1442 as well as a 2880mAh battery. There is also speculation that the smartphone will come with 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded via a microSD slot. Other features hinted at include Qi wireless charging as well as an 8-megapixel camera.

The source has claimed that the leaked specifications are accurate for the final build of the smartphone. The company is also reportedly working on accessories of the flagship, with talk of a leather backed case being shipped with “smart cover”-like features built-in doing the rounds. There is also word that the new smartphone will hit the US market two or three weeks after the Asia launch.

The launch of the new BlackBerry smartphone comes at a time where the company is going through a great deal of turmoil, though. Following the increasing lag in sales, the company recently set up a special committee looking to explore strategic alternatives, which include the possibility of a merger or out-right sale.
